 PRESS-NEWS JOURNAL, CANTON, MO. Fifteenth annual 'Miles for Meals' Walk-A-Thon was held ,The 15th annual Miles for meals "Walk a thon" was held Sunday afternoon, April 26th at the Highland High School track. Over $4214 has been donated. Money is still being re- ceived as of today. They had 36 walkers and 45 peo- ple attended the walk and dinner. Door prizes were awarded to the following. The walker that brought in the most money the day of the walk. Carol Ragar of Canton, ($300), the old- est walker, Ellise McCune, of Ewing (88), the young- est walker, Tyler O'Brien (2yr), of Ewing, the walker that traveled the farthest to walk, Pam Windtberg of Kirksville, Mo. Four walk- ers completed 24 laps of the Highland High School track, Jeanette Buragas, Sarah Jacoby, Melanie Hiles and Christina Sch- nelle. Food for the meal was donated by Sysco foods, Kohl Wholesale, Rhien- heart Foods, Interstate Brand Bread and the pies were donated by each se- nior center and volunteers. Sharon Scifries and husband Vancell barbecued and the kitchen staff and volunteers helped with the rest of the meal. It was a great day for a fund-raiser. RETIRED - Elizabeth McDermott of Durham, Mo., has retired from LaBelle Manor Care Center. On Thurs- day, April 30th a luncheon was held in her honor. Mc- Dermott says she will miss the residents and staff at LaBelle Manor. She has worked as a LPN for the last 17 years at LaBelle Manor Care Center and for several years prior to that as a CNA.
