Fair wheel events
A total of 73 exhibits of antiques,
street machines, pick-ups, vans and
rods were in the Lewis Co. Fair car
show. Robert Toops of Williamstown,
superintendent of the event, said that
he did not know what to expect with
the first show, as the weather has an
impact on car exhibiting, but he was
pleased with the number of exhibits
brought to the fair with good
attendance.
The idea of having a car show during
the fair originated with Mrs. Kenneth
Penn of Lewistown, who served as an
assistant superintendent, along with
Kenneth. Brown of Lewistown. Toops
credits Mrs. Penn with the success of
the event, as she had attended 19
different car shows during the year,
exhibiting a car and advertising the
Lewis County Fair car show.
The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners of
each category received trophies.

present, however, he said that due to
repairs he was unable to bring his car
to the fair.

at Quincy Mall
Children of this area will soon have a
chance to hear two very worthw hile
programs concerning personal safety
and drug prevention. Mrs. Darla
Stubenrouch, a third grade teacher
ifrom Bourbon, Mo., daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. George Bayer of LaGrange,
will set up a booth at the Children's
Fair in the Quincy Mall on Saturday
and Sunday, Aug. 17-18.
At her booth, she will have musical
story times for kids (parents are
welcome too). Both stories involve the
"Safety Kids," five characters who
have a Safety Kids Club and use songs
to help them remember the safety
rules for personal safety and drug
prevention.
After each story time the children
will be presented with a free coloring
pastor" or sticker to help them
remember some of the things they
learned.

rods were in the Lewis Co. Fair car
